See You Tomorrow?

Everyone who shows up makes a difference

A story in The Guardian reports that once 3.5% of the people get involved in protest, it never fails to bring about change. Here’s the quote: “Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.” Want to know more? Earlier this week, I attended a prayer vigil in downtown Los Angeles. It was peaceful and moving for the 1000-1500 people who showed up. A few blocks away at the federal building, there was a handful of troublemakers and police reacting to them. What story did you read in your news feed the next day?

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of news that only stirs my pot, and the best way to know the truth is to witness it yourself. I hope you will consider joining one of the hundreds of peaceful protests happening across America tomorrow to see for yourself what’s going on and to tell your friends and neighbors what you experience. I hope I see you there.
